Over the next few weeks we’re going to be highlighting members of our Board of Directors who are seeking re-election, or will be continuing their current term after the 2018 election this October 12th. If you are a current AFFTA member and want to join other industry leaders in shaping the future of fly fishing for generations to come, consider running for the AFFTA Board. Submit your bio before Friday, September 21st. All details can be found here.
Lise grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan chasing adventure: skiing both water and snow, cycling and, most recently, surfing – and of course fly fishing. Her passion for fly fishing quickly led to a frustration with the lack of good clothing options for women. This in turn, led to her founding of Maven Fly late 2012. The mission of the company is to marry fashion + function in outdoor clothing designed just for women. In addition to Maven Fly she works as the Marketing Director for Casting for Recovery, a nonprofit that provides fly fishing retreats for breast cancer survivors.
Before Maven Fly she spent years working in the marine industry with her brother at Tempress Products, a family business. Lise has a background in marketing and promotion with a focus on brand building. She graduated from the University of Arizona, then moved to Chicago, followed by Dallas before settling down in Austin, TX. In addition to being an entrepreneur, she’s mom to one amazing daughter with special needs, whose determination and strength are a constant reminder that anything is possible.
With just over a year left in her three year term, Lise looks forward to welcoming new members to the board and working together to move the business of fly fishing forward in 2019 and beyond.
The opportunity to be part of the AFFTA board is important to me as the owner of Maven Fly and as the marketing director at Casting for Recovery. My experience as a small manufacturing business owner and as a non-profit marketer + a female angler provides me a unique perspective and voice. I hope that my seat at the table inspires other women and small business owners to make an impact in our industry by joining the board.
