Mike grew up on a bass pond in Wenham, Massachusetts and spent his early years tormenting largemouth and panfish from ice-out until the first frost (and moved to tip-ups when the pond froze over). From there he graduated to the Essex River and the Ipswich Bay where he spent summers chasing blues and stripers. In the summer of 1992 Mike purchased a fly rod from Fin and Feather in Essex, MA and moved to Colorado. His move to Colorado introduced him to fly fishing and trout, with a special affinity for golden trout in Wyoming. Now, 25 years later, he’s fly fished from BC to Costa Rica to Tierra del Fuego and spends his free time thinking about his next time on the water. In 2017 he joined the team at Simms–the opportunity to marry his professional experience with his passion for angling was too much to pass up.
Mike is married with four children and lives in Lafayette, CO, but spends most weeks in Bozeman at his home-away-from-home.
