Since Jim Range’s untimely passing in January, the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) has not had a legislative advocate on contract. At its April board meeting, AFFTA interviewed two outstanding candidates for the contract legislative advocate position. Jeff More with the Accord Group was the unanimous choice of the AFFTA board and he begins his service on July 1.
According to AFFTA Chairman of the Board, “On behalf of AFFTA, I’d like to welcome Jeff as our legislative advocate and member of our Government Affairs and Affiliates (GAA) Committee. Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. He is well known and respected on the hill. As an accomplished fly fisherman, Jeff knows the challenges our industry faces.”
Jeff served as Associate Counsel and Professional Staff to the House Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee for 7 years. While at the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, Jeff spearheaded Clean Water Act reauthorization, Superfund reauthorization, and Water Resources Development efforts for Subcommittee Chairman Sherwood Boehlert.
Jim Lepage, current GAA Committee Chair noted, “even though Jeff isn’t on the payroll until July 1, on a volunteer basis, he’s already working on a number of environmental issues on behalf of AFFTA. Like Jim Range, Jeff’s dedication to the aquatic resource is second to none. I too would like to welcome Jeff on-board as our legislative advocate. Jeff’s primary assignment will be to assure the interests of the fly fishing community are represented at the Capitol.”
