After serving six and one-half years on the AFFTA Board of Directors, and one additional year serving as the Consumer Recruitment Committee (CRC) Chairman, Mike Fitzgerald, Jr., President of Frontiers International Travel Consultants has passed the CRC Chairman reins to Curt Schlesinger, of Trout & Grouse in Illinois.
Mike will still be involved with AFFTA and continue to serve as AFFTA’s liaison with our partners at ISE. However, Mike recently accepted two board member positions, one with the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and the other with the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust. Congratulations to Mike on his new volunteer board positions, and a big thank you to Mike for everything her has done to represent the interests of the fly fishing industry.
According to Mike, “Curt is an excellent selection to chair the Consumer Recruitment Committee. He has lots of good ideas relating to Discover Fly Fishing and as a specialty retailer, Curt certainly has his finger on the pulse on the wants and needs of the consumer.” Welcome aboard Curt.
At the April AFFTA Board meeting, board member Joshua Frazier, owner of Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters in San Francisco, California and the 2008 Retailer of the Year recipient reluctantly announced his resignation from the AFFTA Board. Josh noted that with a 5-week-old infant, a 2-year-old toddler, and a booming fly shop to run, the number of hours in a day were insufficient for him to dedicate the time necessary to serve as an AFFTA Board member. Josh’s vacant board member position will be filled at the upcoming election.
On behalf of the AFFTA Board of Directors, we wish Josh the best of luck and hope to see him back on the board in a couple of years.
