Retailers are a vital cog in the fishing business machine, with a direct link between consumers and the products the manufacturers produce. Perhaps most importantly, retailers fan the flames for beginning anglers as well as continue to cultivate the love for fishing that life-long anglers possess. AFFTA offers retailer members a myriad of tools to grow their business, and the industry of fishing.

The International Fly Tackle Dealer Show is the largest fly fishing trade show in the world, and the co-location with ICAST only amplifies IFTD’s reach to media, manufacturers and industry networking opportunities. IFTD is a one-stop-shop for retailers to visit their manufacturers and view new products, conduct business meetings, conceptualize marketing plans and opportunities and to make connections with industry media. IFTD also hosts the annual New Product Showcase, Iron Fly competition and Pond Hog casting competition. Don’t miss this opportunity to gather and network with YOUR industry.
UPS & Staples Discounts
With the collective power of all AFFTA members, AFFTA is able to secure deep discounts with both UPS and Staples to assist in lowering the bottom line of our members’ costs to do business.
AFFTA Fisheries Fund
The AFFTA Fisheries Fund was created as a funding arm for fisheries conservation and education efforts. This targeted giving program is aimed at preserving habitat, wildlife and access to our healthy fisheries, and also growing new anglers. Grant applications are collected quarterly and awarded throughout the year. Members are also encouraged to make tax deductible donations to the Fisheries Fund.
Advocacy & Government Affairs
Without access to healthy fisheries, retailers would not be able to continue to business. One of AFFTA’s biggest industry efforts is speaking out on behalf of anglers at the federal, state and local level on issues important to the growth of our business. From conservation issues such as the Clean Water Act to access issues such as the Utah Stream Access Coalition, AFFTA works with our seasoned Government Affairs staff, board and lobbyists to ensure the fly fishing industry continues to move forward in the years to come.
