On behalf of the Board of Directors, welcome to the American Fly Fishing Trade Association. We are a group of fly shops, manufacturers, guides, outfitters, travel companies, sales representatives and media dedicated to the continued growth and sustainability of the sport of fly fishing. As the industry trade organization, AFFTA is committed to serving our members and promoting the growth of fly fishing, individual businesses and our industry as a whole.
Our 2018 Board of Directors is a dynamic group of industry leaders with a diverse skillset, representing each major industry segment. We look forward to a successful year and the opportunity it brings. The success of our industry is tied to the sustainability of resources vital to our sport, and we are committed to being the collective voice to help protect the resources our industry relies on for long-term success.
In 2017 we organized the International Fly Tackle Dealer (IFTD) Show in Orlando, put on the Dealer Summit in Bozeman, MT — an event solely tailored to help retailers better their business — and secured a new site in Denver for the IFTD Show in 2019. We helped retailers reduce plastic waste with the creation of a recycled paper fly box. Through the Fisheries Fund we supported stream access efforts, conscientious fish handling practices, black mangrove planting in Louisiana aimed at restoring and creating essential fish habitat and increasing the overall health of the coastal ecosystem and many other conservation and education-minded projects. We also spent time in Washington, D.C. talking with senators and government officials about issues important to the business of the trade organization and our industry.
Stay apprised to all the notable happenings in fly fishing by subscribing to the AFFTA Newsletter or by following the Trade News section of our website. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Send industry news to the communications committee.
We are only as strong as the members we represent and serve, and as an organization we hope to continue the growth of our membership base into 2018. To become a member of AFFTA, please click here. Together we can make a stronger tomorrow.
